I stopped into that new restaurant in San Francisco Plaza yesterday on my way home from the market, not expecting anything spectacular, just hungry. Boy was I surprised when I was served the best hamburger I've had since I left the States 11 years ago. I think it's called The Garden, but not sure. It's owned and operated by Romsey and Andrew and Family. I was planning to eat half and take the other half home as usual, but it was so good I ate the whole thing. Really, really good.

My wife and I have lived here for more than two years, and we love a good hamburger. If you want a cafe atmosphere and an excellent burger, by all means check out The Garden in the San Francisco Plaza. Unfortunately for us tipsters, they do not serve alcohol.
On the other hand, if you like your burger with a beer or other libation, you can't do much better than Mike's Global Grill.
Try 'em both. You won't regret either choice.
We already have Mikes Global Grill on our radar. I am originally from Green Bay WI and I try not to miss ant GB Packer games. I contacted them on FB and they show all the games. He also said there is a nice contingent of cheeseheads that go there for the games already. So we might feel right at home there. Looking forward to it!!
Sorry I am kind of getting off the "best burger" thread but it would be great if some local ex-pats could weigh in on where to go to meet people. My wife and I are very social people. We love to eat drink and be merry. So where do the social people go to hang out? A place with decent food and good cocktails. We currently live on the island of Aruba, bu
t there are not many American ex-pats who live here. There are many great tourist restaurants but they are just that. For tourists and tourist prices as well. We love good steaks and shrimp, fish. What are your recommendations.
Thanks.
A good way to meet people and make friends is to volunteer for one of the many charities. Also go to the Tues. market and chat with people.
We host Tuesday Trivia at Skateworld...every other Tuesday. Its a fun time with great food and great people. You will meet a lot of very interesting and fun at this event.
Hi Leslie, we will check it out. Thanks!!
Thanks for the info, we will definitely check it out.
Yes, you will meet lots of friendly people at Sugar and Spice, who will be more than happy to advise you, but this is a breakfast and lunch type place. if you want to meet people in the evening, a good place would be to go to one of the 'events'. Yella Fever plays at the BCP or other places, and Edgar Vargas (top guitarist in Panama - yes, he won the title) comes and plays at various restaurants sometimes. Boquete is a tourist town, so a lot of restaurants are on the high side, but there are restaurants for the locals also. The one thing you will find here, is an extraordinary number of very talented people - both artists and musicians, and lots of 'can-do' attitudes. The ex-pats are largely (not completely) responsible for setting up charities to rescue and feed animals, feed the poor, get help for the handicapped, set up hospice-type help, knit clothes for the new born, and on and on.
Hi Maureen and thanks for the recommendations. We are very into ARF here on the island so if we were ever to move there I am sure we would pick up where we left off here. We also love good music, mostly blues.
