Interview Requests - Looking for Expats and Native Panamanians - Forum

Hello Everyone! I am working on a 2 part article for an international publication on the people of Boquete. The first part of the article will be based on interviews with Expats about why you chose to make this area your home and what you've brought to the area to improve it (if anything), and the 2nd part of the article will be with native Panamanians and why they like/don't like the expats sharing their community. I am collaborating with a local Panamanian who speaks fluent English/Spanish. If you would like to be interviewed, please message me privately. I will keep my interviewees names private unless otherwise requested. Thank you.

La primera parte del artículo se basa en entrevistas con expatriados sobre por qué decidió hacer de esta zona su hogar y lo que has traído a la zona para mejorarlo (si acaso) , y la segunda parte del artículo estará con panameños y por qué les gusta / no me gusta el expatriados que comparten su comunidad . It is sad the people take such an attitude. This is what Ning tries to avoid.

Stating that most of the knowledgeable old times have migrated to CL is not necessarily true. When Ning bought the site last year, a lot of people were angry, had a super negative attitude and used a lot of verbal/personal attacks, so many were banned from the Ning site, others followed as many members of this community go where the other ones go. That was the negative bunch we did not want. Ning has many long time reputable residents who are members, matter of fact is Ning has over 6K members, more than any other site.

Cindy has her legitimate reasons to not disclose her magazine, and participating in the process is voluntary. No need to charge, no need to mock or attack her. There are many old timers who are willing to contribute to such publications. Truth of the matter is, Boquete does not need any more "best place to live" advertising, but Panamanians are impacted by our presence in their town, they are affected by it, sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way, depends on how you look at it, so they too should be interviewed.

Cindy, I am more than happy to provide you with names and numbers of people who will be willing to cooperate with your article.

You could request private reply's on Ning to members and discuss with them in person or on private emails. Shame this has gotten s out of hand. This subject sure has created a lot of page views, so maybe you are striking a chord. So many opinions.

One thing you need to know, is about once every 6 months or so someone like you comes along. What I mean is, the person spends about a week on Ning asking basic questions about Boquete. Then they get here and become an instant expert on Boquete and they want everyone in the world to move here. Some even charge for the knowledge they pick up here. The only plan they have is to find a way to get rich off of the Expats here. Before you know it they are gone to their next hunting grounds. Do a little research on Ning to see who the last one was. I believe it was Ray but there are so many it's hard to remember which one was the last one. That's what you are up against.
