I just talked to one yesterday and went quite well without threatening with a punch in the face. That is for those who deserve it. I have no problem with the change that the immigration made. You know what I criticised and I won´t be repeating myself again with it. What I will repeat however is that I am here legally like you are and if the border hop requires me now 30 days out instead of 3 days I will play by the rules and stay out 30 days. By the way this is what all border hoppers are saying to you. What do you expect to get back in return when you or Mr. Hil provokes somebody? I have read from other people what they say about you so if I were you I would really hide. Everybody is against you. I don´t have any problems here with anybody except you and Hil. As I said I will be reacting to all attacks day or night until they stop. It will be interesting to see the effects on Panama I think saying perpetual tourism was costing panama money is a bit suspect and more likely just wasn't making the "right" people money and sounds more like political spin. One thing I would expect is panama's position of one of the top place to retire should drop given the current attitude and uncertainty. I am going to regroup for a while but I will be giving serious consideration whether I want to rely on such an unstable immigration system when deciding where I want to apply for my residency, I will be giving serious consideration to other countries even after 5 years of research and previously deciding on Panama

It is $50 amonth for overstaying, I have been told if try to fly out of david they will send you to immigration in david to pay the fine it cannot be done at the airport, and I was likewise informed that if you fly out of tocumen you will not have to go through immigration, the problem is there are check points on the way to tocumen unless you live in the city. I know what you mean about feeling like a prisoner it was why I threw my old return ticket in the trash booked from costa rica and am staying in costa rica until my flight leaves

I have paid the overstay fine twice at migracion in David at $50/mo. They were happy to get the money, smiling even. I have heard that you can also pay at Paso Canoas. Then you have leave in 7 days or so. This was over 8 years ago. Not sure they have the facilities at the airports to pay, probably not. Where did you get the $1,500 figure from?

Happy before, overstaying your visa now is grounds for denial. Actually it has been since lst year, and even subject of deportation. Up tonthe officer so it is no joke in todays time to overstay and highly discouraged

You pay nothing if your last entry stamp to Panama from Costa Rica is not over 180 days. Once you are past your 180 days you pay 50 USD for overstaying your visa. But how that works I can´t tell you because I don´t even know what is the procedure if they see this and where they pay. if you move here in Panama with your visa overstayed and they get you at a checkpoint then you are detained and deported. I think you even have to pay for your deportation...So the short term quick fix is to get out to Costa Rica for 30 days and try return. This way you can buy some time because you should get another 180 days but nobody tried and I can´t say for sure. It is a big gamble at the moment.

Regarding staying at the border well if you would live around 4 km from the border Paso Canoas you would expect one to be there quite often. Maybe you can go shopping just across the street or have a lunch a minute walk. We have to go to the nearest place and that is Paso Canoas. I do spend some time there and doing a service for the others as well as my self to be prepared for all surprises. I don´t have to share any information but I do instead of like you who doesn´t have anything else to do and troll every discussion and talk crap. Yeah bla bla you like it face to face.
