Good afternoon,
I am trying to locate a "Mr. Jerry Buchanan", a U.S. citizen.
He arrived in Panama City May 16th and sent me an email at 22:12 stating he was staying at "Pensione Americana. I have searched for a number for this place but no luck! In his email he stated he would be delayed by a day as he had a "problem with the flight". I assumed it may have been an over-weight issue or something of that nature (PTY to DAV).
I know nothing more of Jerry other than he is a U.S. citizen.
Jerry rented a condo from me and I was to pick him up the following day (May 17th) in David.
I have not had any contact with him since his email stating he had arrived in PC. I have sent 8 emails in an attempt to contact him but no replies.
If anyone knows of his whereabouts or has heard anything regarding him please contact me on my cell at 6415-2055 or email jack@easyretirementliving.com.
I am very concerned he may have had an accident.
Thank you,
Jack

How long did you hold the Condo for him? Did you rent the condo after no response from him?
If you rented the condo give him his money back. His personality has nothing to do with the money he deposited with you and how do you know his story isn't TRUE?
He trusted you with his money. You don't trust him?
May until August and you didn't rent the Condo?
Most deposits are for damages and in case a person can NOT pay the rent when you Evict them.
I wouldn't rent from you.
I will reply because Jack would be too nice. We KNOW him, and I know he would not rent it away for at least the first month that man was supposed to come, which is why he should not give the deposit back. That money for that month's rent is Jack's. And Jack is a wonderful landlord.
Jack, We know you and we know how nice you are. (We were one of Jack's renters at one time. He has a great place that is like a family!) DON'T GIVE HIM THE MONEY BACK!! You're too nice and you think the best of people, but this guy sounds REALLY fishy!
Jack: how do you know that the guy e-mailing you from Florida is the real Jerry Buchanan. As a matter of fact, how do you know that the e-mail was send from Florida. His whole story sounds fishy. Robbed and lost 8k on his first day in PC, maxed out his credit cards, lived with some friends there then managed to get back to Florida. This has the makings of a great novel and then movie staring James Bond. Maybe he got lost coming here instead of Panama City, Florida. His story would make a great plot.
Do you think he has schizophrenia or dementia? If so, I feel for the guy, but he can't expect his deposit back after pulling stunts like that. It's your call man.
MISSING PERSON UPDATE
Hi to all. As promised, I am posting the update on the missing person. I have received an email from him yesterday. He lamented about being robbed his first day in PC. Lost $8k cash. We all carry that much right?
So,using his above average intelligence, he maxed out his credit cards, lived with some friends there then managed to get back to Florida. Now the good part---he emailed me to ask I would return his deposit as he is trying to get a "grub stake" to rent another apartment in Florida.
So, let's see, he went AWOL in May, no contact after I can't remember how many emails I sent to him, then in August he suddenly remembers that he gave me $450 and now wants it back.
Do you think that he may be a "few bricks shy of a full load".
Anyway, he is safe--how "sound" I have no idea.
Case closed!
Thanks to everyone.
Jack
IMHO, no refund is warranted.
A courtesy email can be sent free even if you are robbed and stressed
That hotel that he was supposed to be staying is in a very dangerous area, you do not walk around there after 6 p.m. All the stores on Via Espana close before 6 p.m. and the area gets deserted. I walked that area once late and a policeman stopped me and advised me that if I see a group of youngsters with shaved heads then be very careful. It seems that since they cannot jail youngsters under 18 they shave their heads. It doesn't seem likely that he deserted $500. I hope no harm came to him.
There are several people with the name Jerry Buchanan on Google Search. If you know where he is from, perhaps you could find a picture.
