Hi, Everyone!Do any of you know if MRIs are available in David or if it's strictly a Panama City sort of thing? We're also curious about the cost of the scan if you've had any personal experience. Thanks so much --Tim & LindaEmail: Time4Us2Retire@gmail.comBlog: Time4Us2Retire.wordpress.com

Thank you so much to everyone who's responded! This is very useful information. We won't be moving to Panama until January 2016, so we would have to cover the cost of the MRI as an uninsured individual. Nevertheless, it sounds like a significant savings compared to having the scan done here in Charlotte, NC.
Both Mae Lewis and Hospital Cheriqui have MRI. I was told that the one at Mae Lewis was newer and gave better images. It was about $650 for brain 6 months ago.. I like the technician and the dept secretary, both are fluent in English.
There is an MRI machine at Mae Lewis.I do not know the cost.
Last week I went to radiology at Mae Lewis and asked for an ex-ray of my lumbar region (4 films) (I had no Dr.'s prescription) . In the time it took me to get the gown on, lay on the table for the pictures, get dressed and 'wait 10 minutes" the films (correctly identified) and the Report were in my hands. Cost $63.

I had an MRI done on my abdomen at Chiriqui Hospital a few years ago
and it costs, with jubilado discount, $450. Took about a week to get the CD
which I sent to my Godson, President of Duke University Hospital, at that
time for confirmation of the results. Nothing showed up.
Mae Lewis has one flat price for an MRI. It is $552.50 with the pensionado discount. It does not vary with the phases of the moon Woody.
I had an MRI done at Mae Lewis also. Their tech who does them is a real pro.
The price you will pay probably has as much to do with the phase of the moon as any other factor.
I just had an MRI done at Hospital Chiriqui and without insurance it was $ 600 plus change. It was my spine. The X-rays were $35.00.

I did have to return in a week to pick up the report and the cd with the images.
