Hi all,
Has it been determined definitively if, a tourist who wishes to extend their stay in Panama past the ninety days must return to their "home country" or simply leave Panama for a period of thirty days. For example, the tourist goes to Costa Rica for the thirty days then return and their tourist visa is reset for another ninety days.
I have heard conflicting reports.
Thanks,
Jack

The speaker at the Tuesday Talks at BCP this week (June 27, 10:30 AM) is Martin SantaMaria Castillo, an local attorney expert in immigration topics. He and his staff will address the audience and then open themselves up for questions either about immigration or other legal matters.
The best deal in town -- legal advice for a $1 admission fee.
And I can vouch for Martin.........Hes a good solid honest guy and he speaks excellent English..........Anybody seriously thinking about moving ahead with residency here should take advantage of this meeting.........
Most people, U.S. citizens included, can stay in Panama on a tourist visa for 180 days, not 90 days. However, your driver's license from abroad is good for only 90 days. There is no requirement to return to one's home country for the 30-day period.
There have been numerous discussions of this issue both here and on Chiriqui Life, and News Boquete has published messages from the U.S. Embassy about immigration (which messages are archived on Chiriqui Life). Things are changing regularly, so it's important to keep up with the official messages rather than relying on rumor and word of mouth.
Either way not good.
