Julio Espinosa Brown, local attorney, representatives from the Prosecutors office will be here to take reports and hear grievances. Wilfredo, Official Interpreter for the Public Ministry in Chiriqui, will also be here with copies of “Victim’s Rights” in English. These folks are here to help. They understand that it can be intimidating to go into a Prosecutor’s office to seek help and try to enforce your rights as a victim in a foreign country, speaking a foreign language. Does any one know if the new owner of Casa Decor is connected with or friends with the old owner (Patsy) who ripped everybody off. I cant imagine anyone using the same name of the place that has such a reputation.

I read this stuff mostly for its entertainment value, but I take the warning seriously. Over the time we have lived here, we've seen far too many unscrupulous expats. It's commendable that Janice and Ross are loyal friends who are willing to put their own reputation on the line to defend Patsy. But it sure seems that they are significantly outnumbered by people who feel that they got screwed.

Today I went to the meeting but as soon as I showed up I was told to leave. Then they threatened to call the police. An attorney approached me. I found out that this was not a PUBLIC meeting but only a I hate Patsy meeting by a group of people who may or may not have had any business with her. Lots of folks were there just to hear the gossip I am sure. Now the reason I was trhrown out was because a Panama citizen came with me that still works for Patsy. She is as nice as can be. She just wants to know who it is that is going to here home and putting death threats under her door if she does not quit working for Patsy.
I remind you that we all live here in Panama. We are to follow their laws and we are not supposed to threaten the people here that allow us foreigners to live here . I heard them say loudly, get her out of here at the meeting. I was told this was a Public bldg but then told it was a private bldg and she owned it and wanted me out. So I left. earlier this same morning, a name named Larry went to Patsy's new business on the highway up from Ivans. He was demanding to speak to Kathy because Kathy was getting death threats and Larry wanted her to know that he had nothing to do with it. Patsy went to talk to him but Larry was extremely loud and rude telling Patsy to shut up several times. I heard Larry ask Patsy how she had the nerve to open another business in Boquete. Patsy said that was none of his business and that she wanted Larry to quit staulking around the new business three or four times a week and driving by her home. He is taking pictures and talking to potential customers at the new business before they could come in. I am sure there is some laws that are being broken here but never mind this.
Everyone who is running a little business at the Tuesday Market may or may not have a license to do so. Everyone who wants to play this little game of threatening people and running someone they don't like out of town, they should really think twice. Especially when it affects anyone born and raised in Panama. Bringing attention to yourself with attorneys and the police may not be a good idea either. If Patsy owes anyone money she says she will pay them. She has paid everyone who she knows she owed money to. If there is a problem, talk to Patsy and not to Patsy haters. The victim here are not the folks who got their stuff stored for years in Casa Decor and sold but Patsy and now Kathy. These are good people. The so called Christians who are on a lets destroy Patsy gossip run, maybe they should back off or you could end up in the pokey. You can not go around threatening to kill people that if you don't quit your job you are dead. Does this sound like a good idea to anyone? Anyone.? Now my apologies to anyone within earshot who heard me ask Larry a question. It is not politically correct and it was not nice. I have always tried to help people . Right now Patsy needs to be helped. Her friends should not shy away from her. She is being treated like a criminal because all these nice Christians are talking gossip and lies. So with Larry, I asked an anatomical yet rude question about his sexual preference. But after I heard him with Patsy, I could not help myself. I don't like to have people throw me out of public meetings that turn out not to be public meetings. This is the one sided version of a public meeting . Patsy was told Not to come. She is the one those people need to talk to. If they have a problem , they should talk to the person who is in charge. As far as I am concerned I will stand by my friends. I always do. I have reasons to believe that someone at that meeting was the one making calls and putting notes under Kathy's door. The attorney's will be needed again for those folks doing this as they will lose their residency and get kicked out of the country. The winners here are the attorney's. No one cares about gringos except other gringos. I am Ross Richard Blankert and I know I am on her reply. She has been my sweetheart and wife for the last 43 years. I stick by her too.
All this being said, if it is true that someone is threatening anyone with physical harm, that is not OK and it will not help this process. However, one jerk doing this does not negate that others are the victim of fraud.
I was at the meeting. First, the previous post is quite a twisted tale of what happened at the meeting. There were legal authorities at the meeting who would have gladly taken a report of any death threat. But when I told this man this, he went on screaming a spewing. They were asked to leave because of their behavior. Period. If people behaving like this are the kind she wants that representing her business, well, that says a little.
And let's look at this from a different perspective. All of these people, alleging that she owes them money for property sold. Now wouldn't it be in their best interest to keep her working so she could earn money to pay them? And for her employee to be working as well?
Ross anybody that knows you , knows that you are a screwball. I can tell by your attitude that you showed up at the meeting with one of Patsys employees just to start trouble. I dont even know what planet your on?

While I know most of the parties involved, I think that the rush to judgement here is astounding. If there are any Christians in this group, please let me know. I do know that the business you are talking about was not making any money. Folks left all kinds of things on consignment to be sold. The prices were high as they were more keepsakes than things that everyone wanted. Stuff was not getting sold and there was no room to show any more stuff. You have to have money coming in to a business to make a profit. There were so many problems with the business model. The owners of the business were taking money from another job to pay to keep the consignment business afloat.
Not sure exactly what happened here, but I know these are all very good people. My guess this is a misunderstanding. Marion went through so much, I fear she may have misunderstood what was going on. Taking sides here and deciding guilt or innocence is not for just anyone to jump up and determine. I do believe in Judge not lest you be judged. He that is without sin cast the first stone. And then there is just plain gossip or what we used to call lies. Maybe folks should determine what their own grievance might be. Ask for the explanation, maybe get some compensation, maybe not but smearing someone and attempting to ruin someone's reputation is not a nice sport and it surely is not Christian behavior.
