Rentals cars at the David Bus Terminal?

Hi,

On my upcoming trip to Panama, I am interested in taking a Bus from Albrook to David and then renting a car.  Are there car rental agencies at the David Bus Terminal?  If so, what agencies and do you think they are open on Sunday?

If you are going to Boquete - you can just take the Bus at the David Terminal to Boquete and rent from the Thrifty office in Boquete.  If you are early enough to find the office open, the bus will drop you off at the office which is on the main street. 

Reserve for Boquete in advance.

 

Whether you rent from Thrifty at the Airport or in Boquete - you can drop the car at either place with no drop charge.  I realize that you no longer need this information (re: you 2011 post) but maybe others looking here might find it helpful

I just checked the Avis website and the location is listed now as "Downtown David" Via InterAmericana y Calle Alberto Osoiro-otherwisw known as the Ford Dealer.

Their hours have also change, Monday-Saturday 8:00AM-5:30PM

We do the same bus trip from Panama City to David when we go to Boquete.  We have used avis for the last 3 years.  They have an office at the Ford dealership on the Panamerican Hwy - close to the Kentucky Fried Chicken.  This location is closer than going to the airport.  We have NEVER been reqired to buy additional insurance.  I have checked with American Express and they confirm that they provide the insurance reqired by using my AX card.  Last visit we paid $249.00 for a 13 day rental With taxes.  We seem to rent the same exact car every time - requesting a manal subcompact (FordFiesta or similar).  It a Nissan that we end up with - fine for getting around most places.  The location is listed as "Beverly Hills Plaza" on the Avis website, and we always make a reservation.  The location is open on Sunday -Friday 7:00am-7:00PM and Saturday 8:00AM-5:00PM.

Mike , We just took a taxi from bus depot in David to the airport to get rental car. multiple rental agencies at airport and I hear it is best to reserve car online to secure best deal ?  We had a car reserved at the airport and all went good from there.

Mike , I believe it was National. below is an example of the charges for the economy car we used and this is fine if you do not plan to go on any off road trips. good on gas and very reliable. This billing does not include the insurance that you will have to buy (manditory in Panama) they will not except the insurance from your credit card. Make sure that the rental agency you use goes over the car and records any previous damage or dents for when you return the vehicle you do not get charged for them. If this is your first trip to the area ask for directions, they were very good at giving us directions and we had no problems getting to Boquete from the airport. Once you learn the landmarks to look for it is easy to navigate the area.
