It is with great sadness I report the passing of Ritch Heffner, a dear friend to many in the community and husband of our beloved Marguerite Heffner, a very loved and active member of our community.
He passed away this morning at home and Marguerite is devastated, please send her your love and prayers

I had met & had coffee with Ritch awhile back we had an intersting conversation on a few subjects, nice Man. We are all going there, so lets celebrate and respect life. Live on Ritch.

Thank you, Olga, for posting this about Ritch! There has been such an outpouring of love from all of our beautiful Boquetanians! I have struggled through agency phone calls for hours and hours. I am still trying to notify people back in the States and talking to family.
You think you are ready, you are never ready. You think you are prepared, you are never prepared. Ritch was thoroughly into his shop these last few weeks and had his invention cap on as he so often did, fabricating new tools for his tools, especially his lathe and his mill. He was going to be meeting with people of like minds and I haven't seen him this excited in years.
He LOVED Boquete and he loved the people, the Panamanians and the gringos! He was a people person but was quite hampered as he was almost a shut in. Ritch lived a quite colorful life and experienced many of God's blessings. I hope he is with the Lord now just waiting for me to come next.
Tuesday night Little Buffy died after four and a half hour epileptic seizure and we grieved together and he told me he missed her as much as I did because she was his family. He was always good to her and he loved her very, very much!
He had lost another dog he had been very close to, maybe this was just too much. Ritch did have many health issues he was dealing with, but this was a heart attack that took him.
I will be arranging a memorial for Ritch, I don't know when and I don't know where yet. I do think it will be the end of May or the beginning of June.
There will be a huge void in my life without Ritch and also Little Buffy, God will get me through it as He has every single time in the past. Jesus is holding my hand so I know I am not alone and He has sent me all of you earthly angels to help me through it all, Thank you, God!
I thank you all for all of your prayers because I need them most more than anything in the world!

Thanks Rose Ann, I wish so as well, I loved Ritch dearly as a good friend and I love Marguerite as a mother figure in my life, so saddened for this sudden loss.
Hope to be in very soon to comfort her.
