This is the time of year when a night blooming cereus opens in Boquete. The bud opens on a relatively ugly plant that looks lilke a climbing cactus. It opens once a year at night and lasts until mid-morning the next day. The blooms are the size of dinner plates and breathtakingly beautiful. Tonight and early tomorrow is your chance to see an entire tree covered in this cactus in near full bloom. (There were some blooms last night) The tree is located on the left side of the main road as you come into Boquete. As you come to the bottom of the hill (coming from CEFATI) look to the left - it is right next to the road. Take your camera.

I've been seeing the flowers for the last two days and was wondering about it. They're beautiful. I hope I remember to look tomorrow going in to the gym. I usually notice it on my way home.

Thank you for posting that Judy. This thread had whetted my curiosity and I was sort of sad that I was missing out on a once a year event.
