Announcement of massive operation against aedes aegypti in Chiriquí.
The Department of Vectors of the Ministry of Health in Chiriquí will start this Thursday a massive operation against aedes aegypti before the increase in breeding grounds of the mosquito in different parts of the province.
Patricio Camarena, director of the department of Vectors, said that the rates of infestation of the mosquito are at 2.5 %, which represents a high level and with the arrival of the rains can be increased even more.
The District of David is the one with the highest rate of the mosquito in the province, followed by Bugaba and Barú, being the corregimientos of the district of David as: Las Lomas and Pedregal, where they will undertake fumigations day and night.

I am wondering, where exactly are they spraying? Do the targeted mosquitos live at these elevations? Or are they limited to the lower elevations?
Another question,, the mosquito carried disease that has shown up in the caribean in the last few years sorry I forgot the name) Has this arrived in Panama? Is it carried by the same type of mosquito?
I think that many areas in Boquete are in the elevation level, though some will be too cool. I'm sure they are in the area, just not as many as lower and hotter places.
You might be thinking of Chikungunya, which is a virus carried by the same mosquito that carries Dengue. There is also a second mosquito that carries the Chik virus. Both are found in Panama, mostly at lower elevations, below 1700 meters. Still, they are found in higher elevations, though rare. With climate warming, the mosquito could potentially survive in higher numbers in the higher elevations, but I've heard about some research that has shown that mosquitoes are pretty intolerant to the changes in pressure and/or oxygen which is why they are rare above 1700 meters (about 5500 feet).
The biggest issue with mosquitos is standing water. Plant drain dishes, old tires, and many more items with standing water will merit a citation, possible fine and perhaps a bigger health issue. They are teaching children in the schools to watch out for standing water and to dump any water they see.
What does that mean?
2.5% are carrying a virus (presumably dengue)?
2.5% of the sky is covered by mosquitoes??
