After many phone calls and much deliberation I have decided not to return and start up Alouatta lodge, its just to much money , and I have to repair and rebuild the place after Alouatta sanctuary and Seth hopkins left it in such a state.what constitutes slander, mind you I dont give a sh.......t, Gareth told me seth hopkins(alouatta sanctuary) helped himself to the steel deck, in the last 2 weeks, I built it ., I want to get that straight, He did not build it. he paid for the flooring, and as he owes me over $25 000 in unpaid rent , I consider the floor mine, it was taken ,without consent , without communication, just like the Tamarinds, my Dog and my ducks,I have had enough of this guy, and his underhanded way of doing things, do people have no honour any more,I know I was a foolhaving no writen agreement, but people who know me know I stand by my word,Seth had an agreement with me and I want people to know this is not hearsay, or made up, I have proof and these are facts
.I spent 6 years in Chorcha working hard with my wife building up our little place, some of you visited, well if you went now you would be horrified, broken doors, broken tiles, One of seths managers walked through the big glass sliding door, not repaired, he told me to talk to his manager.!water heaters pulled off the walls(i was told so no one would steal them , they were on the floor. And the last straw over 3 months to tell me Masie died and Jack, why , because he was worried I would kill him, well he is still alive and carrying on .
I am very dissapointed by this whole afair and understand how Paul Saban felt losing Paradise gardens,I cant believe that no one new what was going on and if they did ,nothing was said, I did get reports about seth claiming he was the owner and a Radio interview where he told everyone we were notorious for what we did. We released over 26 monkeys, and had 3 deaths, one from extreme old age , one from panama city also very old and injured, and a young one from stomach complications, Seth has had 5 deaths, most young healthy monkeys that we know of , what happened to coco, ? I am so upset .
our lovely place now just an empty shell.Thank you Seth Hopkins

Steve,
In an earlier message I have apologized. But, to address your comment here, my reply was not so much an attack as it was a wisecrack. It gets far too easy to read the surface of a forum message as I did earlier and not dive into its contents.
Since I do not know you (and it's obvious I a am a newbie here) perhaps I should have checked with others before I "had my fun" at your expense. However, I am a hard-headed SOB and, if others have not seen by now, tend to go after what I consider (erroneously in your case), screwy messages.
So, to you, and all the others I have offended, I apologize. I will check into things more carefully in the future.
Steve,
Excellent reply! I consider myself appropriately chastised. My apologies, as I thought (erroneously), based upon your message, that you were another of the ... interesting ones ... to leave a message. I'm sure now that your message was disjointed because of the strong emotions it has caused you.
Again, my apologies for my wisecrack.
Thank you for clarifying, Walter.
I don't think Seth can be described as an expat. It's my understanding that he's a young man whose family leased Alouatta for the purpose of grant-funded primate research. He has not permanently relocated here, and those who came to Alouatta Sanctuary were students.
Steve was at a disadvantage to act sooner as he currently resides in New Zealand. Moreover, he sent his passport to the British government for renewal some time ago and is still waiting for its return. He therefore most recently sent his son Gareth to check on the status of things. It was Gareth's report on the state of the property that has led Steve and Michelle to make the decision that they cannot afford to return and rehabilitate it because of the extensive damage inflicted by the lessees.
Steve, I wish things had worked out for you and your family as I have brought numerous people to Aloutta Lodge when you were here. I only wish some people would learn to put their brain in gear before putting their mouth in motion with some of their smart ass remarks. Why people like that even move to Panama, Lord only knows. Best of luck to you and your family. By the way, if you're selling any of your palms that are of removable size, please let us know. Phil, Volcan
Well, Fran, then I guess you're just out of luck.
I did.
The question would never come up, because airing dirty laundry on a public forum is not the smartest thing in the world to do.
That's a heartbreaker, brother.
Fran,
First, I would not be disclosing something like that on a public forum.
Second, I don't see any difference in this public missive than some of the other disjointed little stories I have seen here.
Third, concerning smartass remarks, if I were worried about those, I would not publish anything here, period.
Steven and Michelle, I am so sorry to hear that you will not be returning. I have you to thank for my lovely garden, and Chiriqui has you to thank for your wonderful work at Alouatta Lodge. This is beyond disappointing and sad. Seth Hopkins and his group should be deeply ashamed.
