I was recently informed that a very water savvy resident of Valle Escondido, who has been in charge of their water committee and works hard to resolve the water issues at VE, who also frequently tests the municipal water for chlorination, found the municipal water source to have chlorine levels way below the acceptable standards.
Please check your running water for chlorination, or boil your water for drinking if you do not have a water purification system.
Having a water purification system or buying bottled water is best at this time when the municipality of Boquete is facing serious issues.

If you are in the Villas, you are getting Municipal water, so boil your water as it is NOT safe for human use. Confirmed by Lab Tests and published in the newspaper, in addition to Arcuni's reports

If you have a booster pump to pressurize your water system you can install a chlorination pump that can be set to deliver the proper dosage of chlorine into your water. I used a system like this in South Carolina for years on my well and went through about 5 gallons of chlorine every 3 or 4 months depending on water usage. You can buy the chemical pumps at IBIS in David or online at WW Grainger. They run about $100-$150 . You can also buy the chlorine at IBIS and mix with water in a 5 gallon bucket with lid and slide the intake hose thru the lid. I am using one of these on my shallow well here. The pumps that I mention are electrically controlled off the pressure switch from the booster pump. You may also be able to find on that is mechanically controlled from water flow.
Just checked my system with chlorination pump and PH level 7.6 with chlorine level at 1.3. Perfect!
I just read it in the headlines of La Estrella news paper. Anyway there are also as-best pipes that are not suitable and not allowed for conducting potable water.
1 teaspoon of bleach per gallon will kill all bacteria within 20 minutes.
1 tsp. per gallon sounded like a lot to me. Too much bleach for drinking. I did some checking and found it should be 1/4 tsp. per gallon.
