Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site so I welcome anyone who wishes to share any type of information about moving to Boquete. I have read different information on how long a US citizen can stay in Panama without obtaining a Pensionado Visa. In the International Living report on Panama they state that the length of time allotted is 90 days. However, I've noticed on several other web sites that that has been extended to 180 days. Can someone set me strait please.
Thank you.

And your foreign license must be accompanied by your passport, demonstrating how long you have been in the country.
That is because it never was written, it was assumed.
The 72 hours has to do with bringing in over $2000 of goods across the border.
180 days if you don't drive, 90 if you do, just like GSD said. This is if you are on a tourist visa.
To address the other part of her question - the length (# of days) of the tourist visa stay has nothing to do with the Pensionado visa. The tourist visa stay can be 're-newed' over and over again. It does not 'drive' any requirement to obtain a Pensionado visa - that is a separate choice in and of itself.
