HI Dan what a horse, wow. I made it to Boquete and David. I love that palce i am coming back in Dec and hoping to stay. I hope tias time ii can visit with you and your family . I am sorry i dit get tosee you the fist time.
Dan,
I am doing a poor job figuring out this site. Hope I have this comment right.
We expect to move to Panama in the next couple of years and (probqably foolishly but I won't be talked out-of-it, bringing two of our four horses. Knowing it will be a major headache I have started my search in finding all I can to Import them.
If you have any advice (other than don't bring them) it would be greatly appreciated. We are English style riders, (foxhound hunters dare I say? ) and do a lot of trail riding with the horses that we have birthed, backed etc. ourselves (hence the emotional attachment).
We are use to "doing it ourselves" despite full time work etc. and want to continue that. Any info will help and I will continue to watch this horse group for info like that on Alicia grass and Invectious Anemia. Thank you, Jane
I think it would be best to fly to David from PC and rent a car at the airport in David. The drive from PC to David takes about six hours. This would probably mean that you would have to spend a night in PC, due to flight schedules. The local airport from which you would fly to David is on the opposite side of PC from the international airport.
You probably won't have too much trouble finding a place to stay in Boquete, depending on when you arrive, the sort of place you want, how much you are willing to pay, and how long you plan to stay. If you can provide that sort of information, I will try to make a recommendation or two. It would be prudent to make reservations in advance. This is the high season, and if there is a holiday things can be pretty tight.
No, we don't rent horses, but you are more than welcome to come and see what we are doing. It sounds as though you have a lot of experience with horses, and if you and we feel comfortable about it, you can certainly ride. There are places in Boquete to rent "horses," but unless things have changed since we did that half a dozen years ago, you will pay too much money for a pretty rotten nag.
We have been just fine. We finally moved to our finca in December and are living in a small casita which will become Jeanie's art studio when we move into our "casa principal" ini a month or two.
I'm back made it through the holidays, Getting ready to set the dates for my trip. I guess i should fly into PCity. Rent a car drive out to Boquete. i need to find a place to stay, will i have any trouble if i wait till i get there. How have you all been ? Do you rent the horses for riding. i had a horse from the time i was 14. i would love to ride again while i am on a working vacation.
