Our water has stopped flowing for a few hours several times in the past week, and I assumed that it was due to the nearby highway construction.
This time it's been out for 18 hours here in the Oriana Neighborhood between Ivan's Super Centro market and the Las Ruinas Restaurant. Our back-up system has a leak, and doesn't work, so I plan to collect a couple of buckets during this afternoon's rain for toilet flushing and hand washing, and use bottled water for drinking.
I know that there are multiple water suppliers in the greater Boquete area. Does anyone else in Alto Boquete have a water outage right now?? What's the longest any of you have gone without water service in the Boquete area?

Think this has something to do with it ???
As of today, May 24 2012, water is still out in La Tranca on the Momentum road.
There's no way that the municipality isn't aware of it. Lee wrote yesterday that they were opening fire hydrants to reduce pressure. Could this be a part of that? It's hard to believe (even here) that they would let a water line break of this magnitude go unrepaired for so long. I noticed yesterday morning that there was water pouring down the hill across from the CEFATI building, too. No wonder parts of Alto Boquete are without water or water pressure.
Noted our water back about an hour ago.
Later,
J
PS Thanks to all those that worked to get it back up.
Our water is back on as well within the past hour. Pressure is a bit low, so no hot water yet. I assume that everyone with a reserve tank is filling them back up, and we're on our way to normal, whatever that is.
we lived down momentum canyon by the equestrian center (just past oriana and before ruinas). we went 3 1/2 weeks! go to alcalde's office (the mayor, sr. ruiz). do this as often as necessary. good luck. we wound up moving. that was last year.
Thanks Fran - my landlord has notified the officials - have you reported it?
There is a HUGE water break on the main highway that is spurting out more water than we have ever seen. It's just past Oriana headed toward David on the left side. We are using our reserve, too. Several days with SUPER low pressure.
36 hours now without water. Took a shower at the neighbors casita this morning - they have a backup water supply.
I will stop at city hall (Palacio Municipo) in Bajo Boquete later this morning to see if I can find out anything.
Apparently this is localized, because no one else on ning seems to having a longer term water outage, and most of the residents in this neighborhood are Panamanian.
26 hours and counting. I resupplied my drinking, cooking and tooth brushing water.
Someone gave me a phone number to call to report water problems, but I'll bet they don't speak English - I'll try calling tomorrow if the water is still off.
our water is controlled by the municipo. Go to town to the Palacio Municipo and ask. That's City Hall :)
