Thanks for your reply.  I hope the forum software allows the setting I mentioned above.  If not, it would be a good idea to upgrade the software to the latest version, assuming, of course, it has the feature mentioned.

Thank you. It is a shame that people take advantage of this site. This started on Friday or Saturday. It was ringing a bell on my computer everytime a post was made to the main page, which was about every 20 or 30 seconds. I checked the profile of the poster and he admitted to being a cyber spammer. Maybe the vetting software would be a good idea. I still get emails occasionally through Ning from cyber scammers in Nigeria.

The problem is that the admins allow new signups to post without vetting them.  It's such a simple thing to do, but they refuse to do it.  I have told them on several occasions to do this to get rid of the jerks who post this crap, but they do nothing.  I have concluded that they either don't care or do not have the competence to do it.  It's ridiculous.

If you are such an expert why don't you volunteer your time to check and scrub all the comments on this forum??? Not sure if you have ever managed a site with the number of users as this forum, but I can tell you from personal experience it is not easy and it is very time consuming. I think they do a very good job on Boquete ning and go beyond by posting relevant news. Stop the complaining already or get involved, cheezess Mr. Chess! Have you taught a child how to play chess yet in Panama or has it solely been about your ego so far?

So, I should volunteer to scrub all the comments, eh?  Well, sir, why should I volunteer for such yeoman duty?  They get paid for advertisements, so this is a money-making proposition.  They pay their admins.  If they don't, they should.

I am a retired computer systems consultant.  I spent 35 in IT.  So, yes, I have done this type of site administration.  It's a VERY SIMPLE MATTER.  It's a setting in the configuration parameters of the forum software. You simply toggle new members not to be able to post until they verify their veracity.  So it is not time consuming.

Have I taught a child to play chess in Panama?  Hmm...let me see.  I am the originator, organizer, and project director of Ajedrez en las Escuelas (Chess in Schools) for Boquete.  We have 18 schools in the Boquete area, and they now have chess instruction in them precisely because I started it.  The Boquete alcaldia has issued a statement supporting this project.  I've also got one school in David in the program.

That's three.
